About the Mayor & Council

Role & Responsibilities

The Town of Greensboro operates under a strong Mayor form of government and is governed by an elected Mayor and Town Council, consisting of four Councilmembers and the Mayor.

Under this structure, the Mayor serves as the chief executive officer of the Town, with primary responsibility for overseeing administration and implementing policies, while the Council establishes policy, adopts ordinances, and provides overall legislative direction.

A complete description of the powers and duties of the Mayor and Council can be found in the Town Charter.
